klpac presents A Darker Shade of Red.
“Even in a life as un-storied as mine I’ve had all manner of munitionleveled at me. I don’t know if it was the way she moved or the fire in her eye but the woman on the trigger end of that rifle scared me more than the jawing depths of hell.”
“A Darker Shade of Red” is about the secrets we keep from ourselves, the lengths we go to on a ‘maybe’ and that strange moment in love when violence seems perfectly reasonable.
The six stories of this play examine the nature of the human heart through their various lenses. A saloon in a post – apocalyptic western. A cramped confessional in a dusty abbey. A future where there is life in the darkness of space. The locked confine of a man’s past.
Directed by Marvin Wong (Stage Therapy, The Things We Have Lost) and presented by klpac, A Darker Shade of Red believes that the dark can be just as uplifting.
