FAIZAL SIDIK’s Sublime Weaves. An exhibition of 8 artworks
Organised by SHALINI GANENDRA FINE ART
Date: 27th – 11th of March
Venue: Pentas 2 foyer, The Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre
SHALINI GANENDRA FINE ART – The exhibition marks another fruitful collaboration between SGFA and KLPAC as part of the Gallery’s ART FOR YOU program, which brings great art to wider audiences.
Faizal Sidik focuses on collective conscience, an idea he investigates using a variety of mediums.
His earliest works, the War Series, use traditional techniques of drawing to comment on war and dissent, victimisation and silence. The pathos of the images is intense, with figures skillfully enhanced by dark colour combinations.
The installation sculptures combine traditional and modern figures with mechanisms. These works present visual and audible conversations on human rights, disrespected freedoms and biased agendas.
The Sublime & Beautiful series, inspired by 18th century Irish philosopher Edmund Burke, incorporates Eastern aesthetics, colour and traditional iconography (including textile designs). Sidik uses mathematical forumulae and utensils to explore and achieve the precision in design. http://www.shaliniganendra.com/artist_sidik.html
