Theatre for Young People
Young people are the future of Malaysian Theatre. They hold in their hands the ability to create vibrant, thought-provoking theatre for all Malaysians.
The idea of a youth theatre programme was first outlined in a Sunday Star article back in 1991 by none other than Joe Hasham. What seemed like an impossible dream then has since materialised with the launch of klpac’s groundbreaking Theatre for Young People (T4YP) programme in 2008.
The only programme of its kind in the country, klpac’s T4YP is aimed at providing a platform for young people between the ages of 16 and 25 with the opportunity to express themselves by creating meaningful theatre. The programme is led by klpac’s Co-Associate Artistic Director Christopher Ling.
The annual T4YP season begins with an audition. Those accepted into the T4YP Ensemble will have the opportunity to benefit from various training and performance opportunities.
