TheActorsStudio Academy
When the reality of klpac was just a wishful dream, one of the first things that went on the ‘wish’ list was an Academy, because education was such an integral part of our vision and goals. Also, we had so much success with The Actors Studio Academy, that it seemed only natural to extend it to klpac; in fact, The Actors Studio Academy is as old as The Actors Studio itself and that heritage is passed on to klpac.
We are fortunate at klpac to have the facilities and the wherewithal to nurture those with a leaning to the performing arts, because as performing arts practitioners with experience in theatre, television, film, radio and recording we are in an excellent position to guide, train, and educate. There are nine well equipped studios of varying sizes for its courses as well as rehearsals.
The study of performing arts, at any age or level, develops an awareness of body, mind and space. It aids creative thinking and helps build confidence, listening skills, discipline and respect for others and for oneself.
The courses at The Actors Studio Academy @ klpac are as extensive as they are varied and are specifically designed for adults, teenagers and children.
Community OutReach
It also runs a crucial Community OutReach programme (CORe) which enables members of the underprivileged community to experience the magic of the performing arts. Over 600 individuals have benefited from this programme via hands on workshops and activities. klpac has enabled 3000 more to experience live performances.
The Actors Studio Academy @ klpac is currently led by Co-Associate Artistic Directors Mark Beau de Silva and Christopher Ling, aided Administrator Deda Abdullah.
