Welcome to the Grand Finals of the Gold Star International Music Competition, an iconic world-class event rooted in Malaysia. We take pride in being the first Malaysia-born international music competition, pioneering live preliminary rounds hosted in various countries and offering piano and violin concerto categories, providing winners with the extraordinary chance to perform alongside a live orchestra.

Founded with the vision to rapidly expand across the globe, we aim to solidify our position on the international stage, thereby contributing to elevating Malaysia’s reputation in the realm of international arts and culture.

The Gold Star International Music Competition is open to both professional and amateur musicians aged 6 to 35, spanning categories such as Solo Piano, Solo Strings (violin, viola, cello, double bass, harp), Solo Vocal (Classical and Musical Theatre), Piano Concerto, Violin Concerto, and Ensemble.

This year, the Gold Star International Music Competition Preliminary Rounds have attracted more than 2400 participants from around the world. Live Preliminary Rounds were held in 10 countries and 15 cities, including Singapore, Japan, Australia, Thailand, Indonesia, Brunei, and Vietnam. Additionally, participants who were unable to perform live had the option to register in the online video submission category.

All Gold Award Winners earn themselves the qualifications to compete in the Grand Finals. We are excited to announce that we have over 270 International Finalists representing 14 countries and regions, including Australia, Brunei, China, Hong Kong (China), India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, The Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, The United States of America, and Vietnam, in addition to more than 130 Malaysian Finalists.

It is our deepest wish that the Gold Star International Music Competition could serve as a stepping stone for serious, passionate young musicians who are looking for an international and professional career in music and performing arts. It also opens doors for international, long-lasting friendships based on a solid foundation of music, passion, mutual trust, cultural understanding, and exchange, and a globalized worldview.

DAY PASSES
A Day Pass provides access to the full programme listed in the competition schedule for that day and allows for multiple entries. Guests will receive a wristband upon showing proof of purchase on the day. Please wear the wristband for the entire day.

A valid Day Pass is required to enter Competition Halls. Each Day Pass admits only one guest and is non-transferable, non-exchangeable, and non-refundable.

*Grand Finalists and registered accompanists are exempt from requiring a Day Pass.

AWARD CEREMONY & WINNERS’ GALA CONCERT
Final results will be announced during the Award Ceremony & Winners’ Gala Concert. All Grand Finalists will receive a Grand Finalist Trophy and Certificate as recognition. Prize awards will be given to the top scorers of each category. First Prize Winners are invited to perform their winning repertoire during the Award Ceremony & Winners’ Gala Concert.

The “Gold Stars Reaching for the Stars Concert” features our first prize winners for piano concerto categories, violin concerto categories, and selected vocal categories along with The klpac Orchestra.
