ABOUT THE COMPANY

Shin Creation
Established in January 2025 as a sister collective to Soubi Sha, Shin Creation was formed with the vision of bridging ancient traditions and contemporary sound practices. The collective focuses on creating immersive, spiritually resonant musical experiences that invite reflection, stillness, and healing amid today’s fast-paced environment.

Shin Creation believes that music and performance can serve as powerful tools for emotional and spiritual well-being. Its debut production, The Long Journey, premiering in June 2026, draws inspiration from the sacred sounds and musical traditions of the Orang Ulu community in Sarawak, positioning the work as both an artistic and restorative experience.

Soubi Sha
Founded in Kuala Lumpur in 2012, Soubi Sha is a Butoh and contemporary dance company dedicated to researching alternative contemporary dance forms within the Malaysian context. The company aims to develop a distinctive Asian Butoh language through experimental performance while offering education and artistic exchange opportunities.

Soubi Sha’s flagship initiative, Butoh Season, brings together performances, academic symposiums, talks, and workshops in collaboration with universities and local arts organisations. Prior to the Movement Control Order (MCO), the company produced numerous performances, including Reminiscence: The Strange Tales (2013–2014), which integrated Malay, Indian, Chinese, and contemporary dance forms. In 2018, The Dead Bird received multiple nominations at the BOH Cameronian Arts Awards 2019 and won Best Performer.

GSR Music
GSR Music was officially established in 2024 by Garry Sudom Raymond, a visionary Orang Ulu Kenyah musician from Miri, Sarawak. The company has quickly become a driving force in promoting Borneo’s rich musical heritage, providing a platform for Sape’ artists, enthusiasts, instrument makers, and cultural researchers to connect and share the traditions of the region. Through its initiatives, GSR Music aims to nurture talent across generations and inspire audiences both in Malaysia and abroad, celebrating the vibrant musical legacy of East Malaysia.

Under the leadership of its founder, Garry, who serves as Managing Director, Sape’ instructor, performer, and Studio Manager, GSR Music leads projects focused on Sape’s learning methodologies, the development of a standardised Sape’ notation system, and the documentation of the artistry of Kenyah and Kayan Sape’ players. These initiatives are designed to preserve and promote the Sape’ while introducing this unique instrument around the world.
