From the Land of the Rising Sun 🇯🇵 to the Land of the Morning Calm 🇰🇷, this concert by the award-winning Young KL Singers (YKLS) brings you on a journey through some of the greatest and most iconic pop songs from Japan and South Korea across four decades.
One can’t deny the huge influence K-pop and J-pop have had and continue to have across the globe, reaching billions of people, shaping trends from culture and lifestyle to fashion, media to diplomacy.
From the early days when Sukiyaki was a karaoke staple to the time when Hikaru Utada’s First Love redefined what J-pop could offer, artists have continued making waves including EXO, IU, Rosé’s hit APT. with Bruno Mars and, most recently, the Grammy-award winning Golden from KPop Demon Hunters.
From social commentary to ideology, relationships to fantasy, these songs touch on many different facets of life, offering a glimpse into ourselves, celebrating the colours of our humanity through a youthful and vibrant lens.
Helmed by Director Ian Chow, Tokyo x Seoul: Icons and Idols showcases these iconic songs with an almost 40-strong choir led by Mak Chi Hoe (Co-Director / Music Director), beatboxer JP, dancers led by Kenny Shim (Co-Director / Choreographer) with styling by the renowned Beatrice Looi, visual and set design by Gan Cynthia, lighting design by Lim Ang Swee and sound engineering by JJ Tan.
Join us for this mega celebration of J-pop and K-pop that is sure to bring smiles and warm the hearts of audiences.
